Reflection

As the project runs over the next week after to hand in for my unit nine I haven't fully completed this documentation of this project. The project will be performed from the 21st until the 25th of June so I can't fully reflect on the outcome of the performance however I can reflect the making process and the build up to this point.

I think I struggled with this project the most because of how much responsibility I had as a designer. As well as my other personal projects going on at the same time what time for this project was extremely challenging for my time management skills which is something I definitely need to work on going forward. I think I really struggled with this project because I didn't feel supported enough in the making process up everything happening. I had never fully designed and built a performance by myself before in terms of this and costumes so it was a massive jump for me.

I don't think I enjoyed the process because I didn't have a lot of creative liberty with it. I think as a designer I love to explore more visual abstract designs that are sculpture which I did try to include in this but as the play is period and very political it was very out of my comfort zone so I didn't feel very confident with the designs I had made for this. I think I also need to work on finding a good balance between facilitating for a director and also being independent and confident with my designs. Finding my creative ways to take control of the design elements is something I really struggled with on this project and so it felt less like a collaboration then the others that I had worked on.

I did have a lot of responsibility which was something I learnt a lot from, addling the budget for both the set and costumes and getting them all prepared on time. I feel like I definitely push myself with this project in terms of understanding how much I can do in terms of multitasking an also designing for something that doesn't necessarily fit with my personal style and interests.

I learnt how to do a lot of different things such as upholstering furniture, I also had to build a lot for the frames, and it was the first time that I had to do a full design on sketch up as opposed to building a model box.
